Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a 65-bed Emergency Department with a pod-based structure, featuring a dedicated pediatric pod and a separate Acute Mental Health area. The department experiences an average of 230 patient visits per day.

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience.
• General ED nursing skills, including but not limited to:
  • Assessment
  • Documentation
  • IV and phlebotomy skills
  • EKG and cardiac monitoring
  • Point of care testing
  • Splinting
  • Critical thinking
  • Patient education

Patient Care Responsibilities

The clinician-to-patient ratio is 1:4, providing care to a diverse patient population across all age groups.

Work Schedule

• Available positions include 36 or 48 hours per week on night shifts and every other weekend (EOW).
• Rotating shifts are required (7a-7p, 11a-11p, & 7p-7a) as requested, with a low frequency of rotation. Night positions do not rotate.

Certifications Required

• AHA Certified BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.

Additional Responsibilities

Floating to the ED Observation wing (16 beds) and Acute Mental Health Unit (ED Psych OBs) is required as part of the role.

Charting System

The designated electronic medical record (EMR) system utilized is EPIC – ASAP.
