Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary: Seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The role requires strong clinical skills and the ability to handle a fast-paced environment in a 65-bed Emergency Department.

Unit Description

The Emergency Department features a pod-based layout, including a separate pediatric pod and an acute mental health area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and documentation.
• Administer intravenous (IV) therapy and perform phlebotomy.
• Conduct EKGs and monitor cardiac activity.
• Perform point-of-care testing and splinting as needed.
• Utilize critical thinking in patient care and decision-making.
• Provide patient education and support to families.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of emergency nursing experience required.
• General ED nursing skills including assessment, documentation, and critical thinking.
• Ability to handle a patient-to-clinician ratio of 1:4.
• Experience with a diverse patient population.

Shifts and Rotations

• Available positions: 36 or 48 hours per week, primarily night shifts and every other weekend.
• Floating required to the ED Observation wing (16 beds) and acute mental health observation units.
• Rotation among day shifts may be requested, but night positions do not rotate.

Certifications Required

• AHA Certified Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications strongly preferred.
