CT Technologist

Job Description

This position involves assisting radiologists and other physicians by providing high-quality computerized tomographic and radiographic images essential for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The role emphasizes minimizing radiation exposure to both staff and patients and includes aspects of general patient care within the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• CT Studies: Perform computed tomography studies following established protocols, demonstrating the ability to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy while tailoring exams based on patient history and Radiologist instructions. (35%)
• Contrast Administration: Administer IV and oral contrast materials as required for procedures, adhering to departmental protocols and institutional guidelines. Monitor patients’ physical and mental conditions throughout the procedures, documenting all relevant patient data. (30%)
• Radiation Protection: Ensure radiation safety for patients, self, and others by utilizing gonadal shielding and collimation when applicable. Accurately document scheduling acknowledgments as directed. (20%)
• Nursing Duties: Assist the radiologist with sterile procedures while practicing sterile technique. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, pertinent clinical history, and performing venous punctures. Identify allergic reactions or other urgent medical conditions and notify the radiologist for appropriate intervention. Document all important data as necessary. (15%)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in computed tomography (CT).
• Capability to perform X-Ray procedures.
• Experience with Toshiba CT Scanners is preferred.
• All required documentation, including Work History, Skills Checklist (current within the last year), and Supervisory Reference Forms (completed within the last two years).
• Active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Active certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
