Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) working in a medical surgical float pool. The role involves supporting multiple medical surgical units, specifically in areas such as neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, genitourinary, hips and joints, oncology, liver and kidney transplant, and vascular care.

Scheduling and Shifts

• Work schedule consists of rotating shifts of 8 and 12 hours.
• Shifts may include days, nights, and evenings.
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory.
• Increments of time off requests must be submitted upfront, with some restrictions on holiday time off.
• Assigning of RNs may vary, with potential short-notice assignments occurring up to 2 hours before a shift.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer and manage patient care across 15 medical surgical units.
• Responsible for performing unit-specific procedures such as 12 lead EKGs, administering blood transfusions, telemetry monitoring, and managing intravenous medications.
• Provide nebulizer treatments, with respiratory therapists also managing ventilators.
• Maintain patient care ratios, averaging 4:1 during the day and 6:1 at night.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license required at the time of application.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience is required.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
• Certification in CPR and ACLS is required.
• Experience in a Level I trauma center and specialty area expertise is preferred.
• Basic computer skills are necessary, including familiarity with web-based applications.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system is required.

Orientation and Interview

Orientation is conducted weekly on Mondays, barring holidays. Candidates must provide available dates and times for interviews upon application submission.
