Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience and demonstrate proficiency in labor and delivery, postpartum, circulation, and newborn care.

Unit Overview

This position is based in a 25-bed Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Unit, which includes:

• 5 Labor & Delivery Rooms
• 12 Postpartum Rooms
• 2 Operating Rooms
• 2 Recovery Rooms
• 2 Antepartum Units with 4 Beds

The average daily census is between 15 to 25 mothers and their newborns, along with active labor cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
• Monitor mother and newborn health, responding to changes in condition.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including magnesium and epidurals.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
• Participate in patient education regarding postpartum care and newborn care.

Qualifications

• Current registered nursing license in Massachusetts.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required every two years.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Work Schedule

This is a rotating day position, with shifts that may include evenings and nights as needed. A commitment to working weekends is also required.

Patient Care Ratio

The clinician to patient ratios are as follows:

• Labor & Delivery: 1:2-3 for evaluations, and 1:1 for active labor cases.
• Postpartum: 1:3-4.
