Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro ICU

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Intensive Care Unit team. This position requires expertise in managing complex neurological patients and providing high-quality critical care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a 26-bed Neuro and Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to manage patients with various neurological diagnoses, including stroke management and seizure management.
• Handle ICP monitoring and ventilator management with proficiency.
• Titrate drips and manage invasive equipment effectively.
• Participate in special procedures and equipment management including EVD, Zoll temperature management, and PCAs.
• Float to other ICU and intermediate care units as required.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams using SBAR communication practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in critical care or Neuro ICU.
• First-time travelers will not be accepted.
• Candidates must possess valid ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications.
• Experience with telemetry, ICP monitoring, and ventilator management is essential.

Details

• Staffing Ratios: 2:1; occasionally 3:1.
• Average shift duration is 12 hours, specifically the night shift.
• Weekend work is required every other weekend.
• Orientation period consists of 24 hours with no block scheduling available.
• Scrubs must be navy blue, white, or a combination of both; not provided by the unit.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to their start date. The ability to manage calls offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and DNR.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in neuroscience and critical care practices, with hands-on experience in the management of critically ill neurological patients.
