Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Job Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse with a focus on Medical-Surgical/Telemetry in a fast-paced unit that specializes in orthopedic and neuro spine care. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and managing pain for orthopedic and post-surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals on the medical-surgical and telemetry unit.
• Manage pain effectively for orthopedic and spine patients.
• Monitor patient status and report any changes to the healthcare team.
• Utilize telemetry equipment to track patient conditions.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of patient care plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in care delivery.
• Be flexible and willing to float to other medical-surgical units as required based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years of experience in a similar role, specifically with orthopedic patients.
• Required Skills: IV Start, Telemetry.
• Certifications: BCLS, NIH required; ACLS preferred.
• Additional Experience: Charge Nurse experience and Level I trauma experience are preferred.

Work Environment

• Patient Ratios: Expected 5-6 patients per nurse, with flexibility up to 7 in extreme cases.
• Patient Population: Average Daily Census of 37 patients, accommodating orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical cases.
• This position requires a commitment to working every other weekend and potentially making up missed shifts on weekends if required.
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15. Options for block scheduling available.

Additional Information

• Must pass EKG testing prior to the start for this specialty.
• No request for time off (RTO) is permitted after booking, with any call-offs potentially resulting in cancellation.
• Holiday RTO will not be approved.
