Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specialized in Cardiac Telemetry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiac care and the ability to manage various patient diagnoses and specialized procedures effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with cardiac conditions such as Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, and CAD.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings.
- Administer medications and manage cardiac drips, including titration as per protocols.
- Assist with post-operative care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
- Perform sheath removal and manage dysrhythmias.
- Conduct non-invasive airway management techniques, including CPAP/BIPAP.
- Utilize advanced medical equipment such as arterial lines and EKG machines.
- Participate in storm and hurricane team assignments as required during catastrophic events.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required.
- Traveler experience preferred unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience.
- Local candidates accepted.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Cardiac Telemetry and management of dysrhythmias.
- Sheath removal experience.
- Ability to manage post-MI care and provide pre/post cardiac catheterization assistance.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Experience with arterial line management.
- Wound Care and Wound Vac management.
- Charge experience preferred.
Shift Details
- Ratios: 1:6; subject to variation based on patient acuity.
- Shifts are night shifts, with a commitment of 36 hours per week.
- Flexible weekend requirements: 4 weekends in a 4-week period.
Unit Orientation
Orientation will consist of 24 hours to ensure familiarity with unit protocols and procedures.
Scrubs
Navy scrubs are required for this position.

- Atrial Fibrillation
- CHF
- ACS
- CAD
- Aortic stenosis/regurgitation
- Mitral Regurgitation/Stenosis
- Endocarditis
- Cardiomyopathy
- PVD/PAD
- Vasculitis
- Carotid stenosis
Special procedures performed in this unit include CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, and post electrophysiology procedures among others.
Special Equipment
Familiarity with the following equipment is required:
- Arterial lines
- Doppler
- Bladder scanner
- EKG machines
- Chest tubes
- Epicardial Pacing Wires
