Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialization in Med/Surg Telemetry. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to diabetes, renal failure, and COPD. This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and manage dysrhythmias.
  • Administer medications and blood products as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and peripheral line care/management.
  • Care for patients with colostomies, ileostomies, and feeding tubes.
  • Provide pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing various surgeries.
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams effectively.
  • Implement isolation precautions and utilize PPE as necessary.
  • Administer oxygen and manage non-invasive airway devices.
  • Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record system.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications are required.
  • Charge experience is preferred.
  • ACLS certification is a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to float to different units as needed.

Work Schedule

  • Night shift from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • 36 to 48 hours per week accepted.
  • Availability to work every other weekend is required.
  • Orientation period of 24 hours.

Additional Information

Contract staff may be assigned to work with storm and hurricane response teams. Candidates should be prepared to report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. There is a maximum allowable request for time off of 7 days.

Patient Care Focus

The RN will care for patients with diverse medical conditions, ensuring comprehensive management and support throughout their healthcare journey. Our patient population includes those dealing with conditions such as pneumonia, CHF, UTI, and various surgical recovery cases.

Uniform Requirements

The nurse is expected to wear navy blue or white scrubs during their shifts.

Testing Requirement

All candidates must pass EKG Testing prior to starting in this specialty.
