Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg II

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for a Med/Surg II unit. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, with proficiency in various critical nursing skills and certifications. This position involves various responsibilities in patient care, management, and monitoring in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients with diverse medical conditions, including diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, and more.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, perform telemetry monitoring, and respond to rapid response and code teams.
• Administer blood products, manage bowel obstructions, colostomy/ileostomy care, and feeding tube management.
• Oversee pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, and central/peripheral line management.
• Perform phlebotomy, IV care, and maintain compliance with isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
• Utilize advanced techniques such as BiPAP/CPAP administration and oxygen therapy, including high-flow nasal cannula care.
• Participate in wound care and manage advanced wound therapy devices.

Required Skills & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Ability to handle a patient ratio of 1:6.
• Comfortable working nights from 18:45 to 07:15, with options for 36 or 48-hour shifts.
• Willingness to float as needed and work every other weekend.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Charge nurse experience is preferred.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Telemetry monitoring experience with previous exposure to electronic documentation.
• Experience in managing different patient populations, including post-surgical recovery cases.
• Knowledge of handling substances withdrawal, surgical drains, and CVA management.

Additional Information

Contract staff will be a part of a Storm and Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters. There is a maximum allowed time off of 7 days, and all staff must participate in unit orientation lasting 24 hours and adhere to scrubs policy (navy blue or white).
