Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Med/Surg Telemetry to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, focusing on monitoring and responding to varying patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments and provide care for patients with chronic and acute medical conditions.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize telemetry for remote monitoring.
- Administer medications, including blood products, and manage various intravenous lines.
- Provide care for feeding tubes, colostomies, and ileostomies, along with pre and post-hemodialysis management.
- Implement rapid response protocols and effectively work with code teams.
- Administer oxygen and manage non-invasive airway devices, such as BiPAP and CPAP.
- Practice isolation precautions and PPE protocols as necessary.
- Perform wound care and manage wound vacs for patients.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg or Telemetry unit.
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and vital signs assessment.
- Knowledge of renal failure management, phlebotomy, and IV maintenance.
- Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Charge nurse experience is preferred.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with electronic documentation systems.
- Exposure to high-acuity patient management, including post-angiogram and post-surgical care.
Work Schedule and Requirements
- Shift: Nights, 18:45 – 07:15.
- Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks are available.
- Availability for every other weekend is required.
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed.
- Orientation: 24 hours.
