Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong orthopedic background to join our dynamic team. This role requires a commitment to high-quality patient care within a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the orthopedic and spine population.
• Administer medications and perform treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings to assess patient conditions.
• Perform IV starts and manage patient pain effectively.
• Participate in a collaborative care approach with the healthcare team.
• Be prepared to float to other medical-surgical units as needed.

Shift Details:

• 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15).
• Available schedules of 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Every other weekend work is required with make-up for call-offs.

Staffing Requirements:

• Ratios: Expected patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1, with flexibility up to 7:1 in exceptional cases.
• 7 days maximum of requested time off allowed for auto-offers.
• No holiday time off can be approved.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in orthopedic care.
• EPIC experience is accepted, allowing for first-time travelers.
• Certifications: BCLS and NIH required. ACLS is preferred.
• Charge nurse and Level I trauma experience are highly regarded.

Unit Information:

• Average daily census: 37 patients.
• Unit beds: 39.
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical cases.
• Fast-paced environment focused on optimal pain management.

Additional Requirements:

• Pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
• Capable of managing care for COVID-19 patients, as they are integrated across the unit.
