Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

This position is for an experienced Orthopedic Registered Nurse who will provide specialized care in a fast-paced unit. The role requires a strong background in orthopedic nursing and the ability to manage a variety of patient needs, particularly pain management for orthopedic and spine patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the orthopedic and neuro spine units.
• Monitor patient conditions and manage pain requirements effectively.
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring.
• Float to additional medical-surgical units as necessary to meet staffing needs.
• Participate in scheduled shifts every other weekend.
• Collaboratively work with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing.
• Experience working with Epic electronic health records.
• Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) and NIH certifications.
• Willingness to accept 20+ week contracts, with a hard stop on February 27, 2027.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience as a charge nurse or in a Level I trauma setting.

Unit Information

The unit generally accommodates an average daily census of 37 patients with a maximum of 39 rooms and beds. The typical patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients.

Work Schedule

Shifts are 12 hours, typically at night. Options for block scheduling are available, including Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday configurations.

Additional Information

There is no call requirement associated with this position. Holiday requests for time off are not permitted. All COVID-19 patients are assigned to standard units, not a specialized unit.
