Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Med Surg nursing and experience in a fast-paced environment, providing care for patients transitioning from the Emergency Room.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730)
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• No on-call duties

Unit Details

The Medical Surgical unit consists of 15 private beds and serves general medical/surgical patients. Responsibilities include initial admissions and care for patients until they are assigned to their new units.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for medical/surgical patients with various conditions
• Perform initial assessments and admissions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Utilize Epic for electronic health record management
• Communicate effectively using Zebra phones and manage medications through Omnicell systems
• Float to other units as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience
• Level 1 trauma center experience preferred; high-level 2 experience will be considered
• Proficient in Epic Systems
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Able to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment

Nurse to Patient Ratio

• Days: 5 patients per nurse
• Nights: 6 patients per nurse

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required.

Training and Orientation

The position includes an in-depth training and orientation program tailored to the fast-paced nature of the medical/surgical unit.
