Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a pivotal role in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of healthcare providers in a medical office setting. The CMA is responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks that support the efficient operation of the office, ensuring compassionate and effective service to patients. This role contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and helps the medical team deliver exceptional healthcare services.
Essential Functions
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Obtain and accurately record patient vital signs, medical history, and current medications in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available and sanitized.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by healthcare providers and according to established protocols.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and specimen collection, including blood draws and swabs, following proper procedures.
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals, coordinating effectively with other healthcare facilities.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans as directed by the provider.
- Handle patient inquiries in person and over the phone, providing appropriate information or directing them to the correct healthcare personnel.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and current.
- Assist in managing inventory for medical supplies, including ordering and restocking as needed.
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure smooth clinic operations and effective patient flow.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Coordinate with insurance companies for processing claims and obtaining pre-authorizations.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay informed about best practices and industry standards.
- Perform administrative duties such as billing, filing, and data entry as needed.
Travel Requirements
The CMA must be willing to travel to multiple locations within the region to assist in filling scheduling gaps.

Qualifications
- 1-2 years of current Medical Assistant experience is required.
- Previous travel experience is highly preferred.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- AAMA or equivalent Certification is required.
- All licenses and certifications must be current at the time of submission.
