Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including surgical oncology patients. This position involves collaboration with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver competent and compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical and surgical oncology patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate patient care plans.
• Utilize appropriate age and population-specific standards in clinical practice.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record system (EMR-Epic).
• Operate medical equipment, including AccuDose, bladder scanners, Phillips monitors, and telemetry systems.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in a large hospital (200 beds or more) or a level 2 trauma center.
• Active RN license in North Dakota or a compact state.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Experience with surgical oncology patients is preferred but not mandatory.
• Travel nursing experience is required, unless extensive experience is gained in a large level 1 trauma center.
• Familiarity with EMR (EPIC) is essential.

Additional Information

• The unit consists of 47 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 during the day shift and 6:1 during the night shift.
• New hires will undergo a comprehensive training program, including one day of lead center training and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor.
• The RN may also be required to float to other medical-surgical units as needed.
