Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical unit specializing in patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing, working effectively within a collaborative healthcare environment.
Shift Information
- Type: Day/Night Rotate
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday
Unit Information
- Unit: 5SE – Medical Surgical
- Unit Type: Medical Surgical
- Bed Size: 47 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Providing care for medical-surgical patients and surgical oncology patients.
- Collaborating with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise and knowledge.
- Utilizing age and population-specific standards in clinical settings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Medical Surgical unit, preferably in a larger hospital with at least 200 beds or a Level 2 trauma center.
- Experience with surgical oncology patients is preferred but not required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Dakota or a compact state.
- Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.
Training and Orientation
- 1-day lead center training.
- 2 shifts (12 hours each) on the unit with a preceptor.
Floating and Equipment
This position may require floating to other medical-surgical units. The following equipment will be utilized:
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) – EPIC
- AccuDose
- Bladder Scanners
- Pillips monitors
- Telemetry
Additional Information
Candidates must be willing to badge in and out at the facility. Scrubs should be navy blue.
