Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical Unit. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to medical and surgical patients, including those in surgical oncology. The position requires strong collaboration with inter-professional teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent nursing care to medical and surgical patients, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation and patient management.
• Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and care strategies.
• Maintain competency in nursing practice and uphold safety standards within the clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Medical Surgical nursing.
• Experience in a large hospital setting with a minimum of 200 beds; Level 2 trauma center experience preferred.
• Experience with surgical oncology patients is preferred but not required.
• Active RN license in North Dakota or a Compact state.
• BLS certification from AHA is required.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record systems.

Shift and Schedule

This position involves 12-hour shifts with mandatory coverage for every other weekend and holiday. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 for day shifts and 6:1 for night shifts.

Orientation and Training

• New hires will receive 1 day of lead center training.
• Subsequent orientation will include 2 shifts on the unit under the guidance of a preceptor.

Additional Information

Clinicians must badge in and out at the facility and adhere to dress code requirements, which mandate navy blue scrubs. There will be opportunities for floating to other medical-surgical units as needed.
