Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for an opportunity in a fast-paced orthopedic unit. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in orthopedic nursing with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in an orthopedic and neuro spine setting.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, managing pain effectively.
• Administer medications and perform IV starts as needed.
• Maintain telemetry monitoring and interpret results.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Float to other medical-surgical units as required based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Must Have:
  • Minimum of 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience.
  • BCLS and NIH certificates are required.
  • EPIC experience is preferred for first-time travelers.
• Preferred:
  • ACLS certification.
  • Charge nurse experience.
  • Experience in a Level I Trauma center.

Work Environment

The unit maintains an average daily census of 37 with a 5-6 patient to nurse ratio, occasionally flexing to 7:1 in extreme cases. Nurses will be expected to handle high volumes effectively, ensuring swift and appropriate patient care.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 to 48-hour work weeks available.
• Weekend commitment required every other weekend, with makeup shifts for any calls out during weekends.
• Block scheduling options available: F/S/S or S/S/M.

Additional Information

No holiday time off requests will be approved. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start of their assignment. This position is focused on a collaborative team environment with an emphasis on patient pain management and comfort.
