Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with a strong background in intermediate care to join our dynamic team. This position will involve providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment that functions similarly to an ICU.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions in a stepdown unit.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips and manage arterial lines.
• Provide telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias effectively.
• Implement and follow protocols for Rapid Response Teams and IV insulin administration.
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines.
• Care for patients with tracheostomies and utilize non-invasive airway management techniques.
• Manage chest tubes and understand isolation precautions.
• Participate in floating to sister units as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Experience in PCU, ICU, DOU, or telemetry required.
• Proficient in the management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring.
• Strong experience in using high-flow nasal cannulas and non-invasive ventilation.
• Valid certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale.
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to starting.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts with a target ratio of 1:3-4 patients.
• 36 or 48 hours per week available.
• Must be available for orientation and training during the first week.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• RTO (requested time off) is a maximum of 7 days for Aya Auto Offer.

Special Procedures/Unit Details

The unit caters to a diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with various diagnoses such as respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, post-operative recovery, and complications during labor.

Special Equipment

Staff will utilize bedside telemetry monitors and have access to various advanced medical devices, including BiPAPs and chest tubes. Familiarity with the unit’s monitoring systems is essential.

Scrubs

Expected to wear navy, white, or a combination of both for uniform adherence.
