Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical – Neuro

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with a focus on Medical Surgical and Neuro care. Join our dedicated team and contribute to patient recovery and wellbeing in a dynamic hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neuro patients, including stroke and neurosurgery patients.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and support.
• Prepare and maintain accurate patient records.
• Float to other Med/Surg and Telemetry areas as needed, including COVID care units.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience.
• Must have completed at least 2 successful traveler contracts; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• Local candidates are welcome to apply.

Required Skills and Certifications

• IV Start and Telemetry skills.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BCLS).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but not required.

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6.
• Contracts available for 13 to 26 weeks.
• Shift availability includes 12-hour night shifts.
• Travelers are required to work every other weekend, with makeup shifts for any missed weekend work.
• 42 daily census with 43 available beds, including a specialized Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).

Orientation and Training

• 36 hours of unit orientation provided.
• EKG testing required prior to start.

Scrubs Requirements

Navy scrubs are required while on duty.

Additional Information

Floating to different units may be required based on patient care needs. Frequent patient care adjustments and collaboration with team members will be essential for success in this role.
