Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

A dynamic opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses in a fast-paced medical/surgical telemetry unit specializing in gastrointestinal care. Candidates will provide high-quality patient care and are expected to work flexibly within a team while handling a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care for individuals with gastrointestinal conditions, including those experiencing blood loss, anemia, infections, and renal issues.
• Monitors cardiac rhythms for patients within telemetry beds.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6, with potential shifts to 1:7 depending on staffing needs.
• Participate in unit orientation and training to ensure familiarity with processes and protocols.
• Adapt to fast-paced changes, including high patient turnover rates.
• Perform IV starts and other nursing duties as required.
• Float to other medical/surgical units as needed to support staffing requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience required.
• Completion of at least 2 successful assignments in similar settings is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• Current certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
• Telemetry nursing experience is preferred.

Schedule and Details

• Full-time shifts: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Mandatory weekend rotations, with every other weekend required.
• Unit orientation consists of 36 hours of training.

Work Environment

This unit operates efficiently under a standardized system, utilizing PYXIS for medication management and EPIC for electronic health records. Team members are expected to excel in communication and collaboration to ensure optimal patient care and safety.

Additional Information

Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to their start date to qualify for this specialty nursing role.

Dress Code

Navy and/or white scrubs are required for all staff members while on duty.
