Pediatric Sonographer

Job Description

The Pediatric Sonographer will play a crucial role in performing echocardiographic studies across a wide spectrum of congenital and non-congenital heart disease diagnoses. This position requires a high level of expertise in pediatric sonography along with the ability to assist with bedside Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) procedures, including ECMO weans and catheter placements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform echocardiographic studies within the entire spectrum of diagnoses seen in fetal congenital heart disease (22+ weeks), pediatric heart disease, and adult congenital echocardiography.
• Provide coverage for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).
• Recognize and triage emergent situations effectively.
• Communicate findings in written form to cardiologists.
• Maintain and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
• Log and bill procedures as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in pediatric sonography.
• Knowledge and experience with ECMO procedures.
• Extensive understanding of congenital and unusual forms of non-congenital heart disease.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• ARDMS certification required; Registry in Pediatric Echocardiography preferred.
• Fetal Echo experience is encouraged; Adult Echo experience is a plus.

Equipment and Software

• Utilize 4 ultrasound scanners from Philips.
• Experience with EMR and PACS systems, specifically Epic and PACS Fuji CV Synapse, is essential.

Work Schedule

The typical work shifts are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility as needed.

Orientation and Dress Code

New hires will have a floor orientation lasting 1-2 weeks. Scrubs will be provided in the color Caribbean Blue.
