Occupational Therapist (OT)

Job Description

This position involves delegating responsibilities to the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Aides. The role is patient-focused, utilizing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in line with occupational therapy standards, physician orders, and relevant policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Patient Evaluation: Assess the patient’s function through formal and informal testing to determine the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive functions.
• Treatment Development: Create a specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient’s capacity to adhere to the prescribed treatment plan.
• Plan Submission: Prepare a written treatment regime as part of the treatment plan authorized by the physician. Make updates to the plan of care as necessary to reflect changes in patient status and co-sign verbal orders from occupational therapist assistants as needed.
• Scheduling: Develop a treatment schedule that is specific in frequency and duration, to be discussed with the patient, family, or caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff.
• Education: Provide education to the patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding the pathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment. This includes information about rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions. Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students in accordance with affiliate and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Occupational Therapist, primarily in an outpatient setting with some acute care experience.
• Valid Michigan Occupational Therapist License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Skills checklist relevant to Occupational Therapy, current within the last year.
• Two supervisory references completed within the last two years.

Work Schedule

Shifts are available any time between 7:30 AM and 6 PM, with a preference for 8-hour days. There is a guarantee of 40 hours per week. Weekend requirements include one Saturday per month. There are no on-call responsibilities associated with this position.
