Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized care to patients suffering from advanced heart failure and other complex cardiac conditions. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patients requiring mechanical circulatory support.

Unit Description

The Cardiac ICU unit supports patients on mechanical circulatory support systems, including Impella, durable Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP). The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. The unit caters to a diverse patient population, focusing on multi-system failure and fresh post-operative cardiac surgical cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the cardiac ICU.
• Monitor patients’ health conditions and respond to changes in their status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and patient care.
• Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Level 1 ICU experience required.
• Experience with mechanical circulatory support (MCS) highly preferred.
• Expertise in advanced heart failure management is required.
• 1+ years of travel experience required.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) are mandatory.
• Valid nursing license and certificate verification.

Schedule

This position requires a 36-hour rotating day/night schedule with every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) commitment.
