ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical and surgical intensive care, demonstrating the ability to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients.

Position Details

• Shift: Nights and every other weekend (EOW)
• Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Unit Type: 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU
• Telemetry Competency: Required
• Floating: Required to Medical/Surgical Units
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas

Responsibilities

The ICU Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Caring for a diverse adult patient population with conditions such as substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.
• Monitoring and interpreting telemetry strips.
• Collaborating with attendings and residents present in the ICU 24 hours a day.
• Utilizing the EPIC electronic medical record system for documentation and patient care coordination.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License
• 2+ years of continuous adult ICU experience required, preferably in a Medical/Surgical ICU setting
• AHA BLS and ACLS certification required
• Ability to effectively float to other medical/surgical units as needed
