ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role involves providing critical care to patients in a Level III Trauma Center, specifically within a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).

Position Details

• Full-time positions available: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Night shifts and every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating to other Medical/Surgical units as needed

Unit Overview

The ICU cares for a diverse patient population, including those with severe conditions such as:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Medical staff, including attendings and residents, are present in the ICU 24 hours a day.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and symptoms, interpreting telemetry strips as necessary.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and ongoing care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in an adult ICU, preferably in a MICU setting.
• Experience with telemetry required.
• Active registered nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Additional Information

• Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases; floating to other Med/Surg areas may result in ratios of 1:4 or 1:5.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used: EPIC.
