ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse for a fast-paced medical/surgical intensive care unit. This role is ideal for a nurse with strong clinical skills and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in a Level III Trauma Center environment.

Position Overview

The ICU consists of a 20-bed unit, where the RN will be responsible for caring for a diverse range of adult patients experiencing complex medical conditions. Our patient population includes those with diagnoses such as:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleeding
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

The unit is staffed with attending physicians and residents present 24/7 to ensure comprehensive patient management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Monitor patient vitals and interpret telemetry strips effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to Medical/Surgical Units as needed, managing a patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system for charting and documentation purposes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in an intensive care unit, specifically MICU.
• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Proficient in reading telemetry strips.
• Ability to float to other medical/surgical units as required.

Work Schedule

This position requires availability for rotating shifts, including weekends. Night shifts are standard, while day positions may involve rotation among various shifts, including 7a-7p and 11a-11p, as needed.
