Pre-Admission Services Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Pre-Admission Services (PAS) Registered Nurse specializes in conducting comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments and risk evaluations to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and promote patient safety. This role is primarily focused on the pre-operative phase of the patient’s surgical experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough screenings to identify potential anesthesia and surgical risks through telephone consultations and in-person visits.
• Collaborate with PAS advanced practice providers, anesthesia teams, surgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient preparation.
• Ensure appropriate medical clearance for patients prior to procedures.
• Deliver quality, evidence-based care utilizing the nursing process, established clinical protocols, and evidence-based risk assessment tools.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that surgical patients receive adequate evaluation and medical optimization.

Qualifications

• CurrentRegistered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in pre-operative assessments or related nursing experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of clinical protocols and risk assessment tools.

Work Schedule

This position typically works three days a week, specifically on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.
