Mammography Technologist

We are seeking an experienced Mammography Technologist to provide essential health care services through diagnostic imaging. This role involves applying x-ray energy to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of patients and producing high-quality images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform diagnostic radiography procedures accurately and efficiently.
• Corroborate patients’ clinical histories with the procedures and ensure all information is thoroughly documented for practitioner use.
• Prepare patients for procedures, offering clear instructions to ensure desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize patient anxiety.
• Select and operate radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve optimal imaging results.
• Position patients and equipment effectively to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, always respecting patient comfort and ability.
• Immobilize patients as necessary to ensure appropriate examinations.
• Determine radiographic technique exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure to patients and others.
• Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring correct identification is recorded.
• Verify informed consent for interventional procedures and assist licensed practitioners as required.
• Practice aseptic techniques as necessary to uphold safety and health standards.
• Assume responsibilities for addressing the physical and emotional needs of patients during imaging procedures.
• Prepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, in agreement with state statutes and institutional policy.
• Support the overall mission, vision, and values of the health organization.
• Participate in required education and training programs relevant to the position.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited radiologic technology program is required.
• Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
  • Current OBMI and ARRT registration as a Mammography technologist is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • CRASE training is required if the assignment extends beyond a 6-month period.
• Experience:
  • No experience is required, but a minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred.

Working Conditions:

This position is primarily based in an indoor healthcare environment, subject to variable indoor temperatures. Employees may encounter exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. It is essential to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, requiring quick responses to changes and emergency situations. Expect high levels of activity and varying noise levels during shifts.
