Pediatric Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This is a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring the Registered Nurse to float between various pediatric units, including PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units. Candidates must possess comprehensive clinical experience in pediatrics.

Responsibilities

  • Float to multiple pediatric units as assigned, providing high-quality nursing care.
  • Provide care for neonates and pediatric patients in critical and acute settings.
  • Participate in patient assessments, documentation, and care planning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, including float policies and unit protocols.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is required.
  • Must have previous experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with float pool experience preferred.
  • Current certifications in BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS are required.
  • Pediatric PACU experience is highly preferred.
  • Dr. Brown’s Infant Driven Feeding Certification is required but can be submitted as pending.
  • Experience with the Epic electronic health record system is mandatory.
  • Applicants must adhere to the float policies established by the organization.
  • Must be comfortable working night shifts and be available for every other weekend and holiday.
  • A valid nursing license in Virginia is required, with the ability to submit while pending.

Scheduling

This position offers a flexible commitment of either 36 or 48 hours per week on night shifts, specifically 4×12 hour shifts. Please note that block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.

Contract Details

The assignment is for a total of 13 weeks, with the potential to extend. Time-off requests will be considered, but not during the first two weeks of the assignment. Up to 40 hours of leave may be approved.
