Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with NICU II and III experience to join our Neonatal Intensive Care team. This role involves providing high-quality care to critically ill newborns and supporting families during challenging times.

Work Schedule Options

• 4×12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30) with no call requirement
• 3×12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30) with at least one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly

Key Responsibilities

As a NICU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

• Caring for infants born at 22 weeks gestation and beyond
• Managing complex patient diagnoses such as:
• Abdominal wall defects
• Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)
• Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS)
• Drug exposure and withdrawal
• Hypoglycemia
• Sepsis
• Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF)
• Duodenal atresia
• Diaphragmatic hernia
• Urethral stenosis
• Myelomeningocele
• Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)
• Performing special procedures, including:
• Full body cooling
• Chest tube insertion
• Surgical repair of anomalies (excluding cardiac)
• Tracheostomy management
• Administration of avastin and laser eye surgery
• Using specialized equipment such as:
• Artic Sun
• Blanketrol
• Jet ventilators, HFOV, Draeger ventilators
• High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), Bubble CPAP
• Alaris and Philips central systems
• B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps
• Atom Dual Incubators, GE Dual Incubators, Draeger Caleos, Radiant warmers
• External shunt, ostomy management

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in NICU
• Required certifications:
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support)
• Active South Carolina nursing license
• Must have at least 1 year of experience with the EPIC documentation system

Additional Information

Float assignments may be required to other NICU units or facilities as needed. Weekend coverage will be required every other weekend unless dictated otherwise by staffing needs. This position does not accept first-time travelers.
