Registered Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for our Labor and Delivery unit. This role requires expertise in caring for patients during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. The nurse will be expected to manage both high-risk and low-risk populations effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, and Newborn Care settings.
• Assist with surgical procedures, including Cesarean sections and tubal ligations.
• Conduct triage of obstetrical patients and manage fetal monitoring.
• Administer medications and therapies, including magnesium sulfate therapy.
• Perform newborn assessments and postoperative care.
• Support and implement baby-friendly protocols and neonatal care.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
• Manage IV therapy and phlebotomy as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Labor and Delivery or related fields.
• Current certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP are preferred.
• Familiarity with charting systems, specifically Epic.
• Ability to float to Mother/Baby and NICU (feeders/growers) as required.

Shift Details

• Night shift: 3×12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:00)
• Rotation includes every other weekend and holiday coverage.
• Pre-approved time off available with one request per contract.
• Orientation hours: 36 hours.

Patient Care Information

• Daily census: approximately 10 patients.
• Patient demographics include neonates and adults.
• Unit operates with a patient bed capacity of 12 and 14 rooms.
• Average annual deliveries exceed 2000, with a focus on high-risk populations.

Special Procedures and Equipment

• Experience with the following procedures is preferred: Cesarean sections, cerclage, and fetal transfusions.
• Utilization of specialized equipment, including lift devices and interoperable systems.
