Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room/Surgery

Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room/Surgery specializes in providing both routine and complex nursing care. This role requires the nurse to practice independently while demonstrating an awareness of various clinical situations and their implications. The nurse will develop long-range goals and plans while effectively managing the contingencies of clinical nursing. This includes making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to optimize patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of applicable competencies, including self-leadership and leadership of others.
• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addressees increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families according to their practice level.
• Administers medications and treatments in line with established protocols; monitors patients for side effects and effectiveness of treatment.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided accurately and timely.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and available resources to support patient care.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of one year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Active RN license in the state of Texas or compact state.

Work Schedule:

Full-time position with weekend shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
