Job Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will be responsible for administering medical gas therapy and evaluating the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. This role involves collaboration with advanced practitioners and clinical specialists to implement respiratory care plans, ensuring adherence to department standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medical gas therapy in accordance with established department procedures.
• Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapies, making decisions on continuation or discontinuation based on department standards.
• Collaborate with advanced practitioners and clinical specialists to develop and implement respiratory care plans.
• Review patient charts, including orders, lab values, and chest x-rays, and document care provided accurately and consistently.
• Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring it is in a safe and sanitary condition, returning equipment to the department after patient discharge.
• Monitor patients during therapies for adverse reactions, responding to any issues according to department policy.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited college.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Eligibility for a State of Maryland License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens. This role requires medium lifting as a physical demand.

Shift Information

This position involves working night shifts, specifically three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00.
