ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Scheduling Details

• Shift Hours: 3×12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Weekend Requirement: May be every other week or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Accept First-Time Travelers: Yes
• Locals Accepted: Yes, subject to radius rule criteria

Charting Requirements

• Charting System: EPIC experience required

Required License and Certifications

• ACLS / BLS / NIHSS Certification
• Pending License: Accepted if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise must have an active Virginia State or Compact RN license

Required Clinical Skills

• Previous Neuro experience in a large L1/L2 facility is required
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, and PICC line management
• Medication administration including continuous IV paralytics, sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Neuro diagnoses: CVA/Acute Stroke management, external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy, and post-neurosurgery management
• Respiratory skills: Care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and suctioning (ETT, NT)

Unit Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Neurosurgery, neuro-specific diagnoses, complex spine
• Special Procedures: External ventricular drains, therapeutic thermoregulation
• Floating Requirement: Will be required to float within skillset
