Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes

This position involves a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a guarantee of 36 hours per week. The Registered Nurse will float to various units within their skill level when necessary and is required to work every other weekend. There are no on-call duties associated with this position.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse, you will function within the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of the organization, assuming responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during your shift. Your key responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria.
• Making clinical judgments based on scientific knowledge and clinical skills.
• Assisting in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg/Telemetry is required.
• Strong attendance, demonstrating commitment to reporting for all assigned shifts on time.
• Competency with cardiac medications, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardine, Dobutamine, Lasix, and Bumex, along with knowledge of titration and application of these medications.
• Proficiency in telemetry and an understanding of heart rhythms.
• Critical thinking skills to recognize changes in patient status and take appropriate intervention steps.
• Knowledge of signs and symptoms of stroke, with the ability to identify changes in patient status and act accordingly.
• Strong communication skills are essential.

Certification Requirements

• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Active NIHSS Certification.

License Requirements

• Must hold an active Ohio or Compact RN License.
