Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes

This position is for a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, offering a 36-hour guaranteed workweek. RNs may float to various units within their skill level as needed and are required to work every other weekend. There is no on-call requirement for this role.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse, you will function within the health system’s mission and values, assuming responsibility and accountability for the care provided to assigned patients during your shift. You will be responsible for:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria.
• Making informed judgments based on scientific knowledge and clinical skills.
• Assisting in the planning, directing, and teaching of non-RN staff, including LPNs/PCTs and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in a Med Surg/Telemetry setting.
• Strong commitment to punctuality and attendance for all assigned shifts.
• Competence with cardiac medications, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardene, Dobutamine, Lasix, and Bumex. Knowledge of titration and application of these medications is required.
• Proficiency in telemetry with a strong understanding of heart rhythms.
• Critical thinking skills to recognize changes in patient status and intervene appropriately.
• Knowledge of stroke signs and symptoms, along with the ability to recognize changes in patient status and take necessary action.
• Excellent communication skills.

Certification Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

License Requirements

• Active Ohio or Compact RN License.
