Emergency Department Nurse

Job Overview

An urgent need has arisen for an experienced Emergency Department Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will be available to start as soon as possible, with a latest start date of October 26. This role involves working nights, specifically from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with weekend shifts required as per contract agreements and potential for holiday work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a combined adult/pediatric emergency department setting.
• Administer blood products and manage central line care.
• Perform phlebotomy and start IVs as needed.
• Administer continuous IV sedation, manage IV vasopressors, and perform procedural sedation administration.
• Utilize CPAP/BiPAP as appropriate and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
• Cater to ventilated patients in critical care situations.
• Conduct triage assessments and prioritize patient needs effectively.
• Float to other departments as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an emergency department.
• Active BLS, ACLS, NIH, and PALS certifications.
• Experience using the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Ability to manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
