Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby care. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
• Attend deliveries and perform newborn care, including triage and circulating for C-sections.
• Monitor and titrate medications as per established protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document all patient interactions and care provided in the medical record.

Unit Information

• Unit type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Number of beds: 14
• Operating room suites for C-sections: 2
• Triage beds: 4
• Average births: 90 per month
• Patient ratio: 1:1 during labor, 1:3 postpartum couplets care, and 1:3 in triage.
• Follow AWHONN Staffing Standards for care provision.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
• Must possess BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), and NRP certifications.
• Experience attending deliveries and managing medications such as magnesium sulfate.
• Mother-Baby experience is highly desirable.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This position will require flexibility to float to multiple locations within the region as needed. Nurses may be expected to work weekends and holidays based on unit needs. Orientation will be provided, including training on unit protocols and compliance requirements.

• Hospital-issued scrubs are required.
• Travelers are encouraged to have reliable transportation as they may float between multiple locations.
• Compliance and training assignments must be completed prior to the start of the position.
• A no fingernail lacquer policy is in effect due to the unique care model.
