Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Job Summary

A dynamic opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set along with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients during labor and delivery, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
• Manage labor inductions, handle multiple drips (Pitocin, magnesium, insulin), and care for preterm and multiple gestation patients.
• Perform and assist with special procedures including epidurals and circulate in the operating room during C-sections.
• Support patients experiencing complications such as preeclampsia and postpartum hemorrhages.
• Administer resuscitation for patients at 22 weeks and above.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Must possess proficiency in EPIC and have experience starting IVs and circulating in the operating room.
• Ability to recover patients from C-sections.
• Must have current certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15).
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Floating required within Women’s Services.
• Every other weekend availability is required.

Patient Demographics

Care is provided for patients 14 weeks and above in triage and for 20 weeks and above in Labor and Delivery. C-sections are performed in the same suite with a total of three operating rooms available for procedures.

Unit Specifics

• Staff to patient ratio: 1:2 for a total of 21 rooms/beds.
• Special equipment includes epidural pumps, PCAs, Alaris pumps, fluid warmers, and nitrous oxide.
• Unit systems utilized: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
• Orientation includes EPIC training and hands-on experience in the operating room.

Additional Information

Internal guidelines include a dress code that allows only natural hair colors. Scrubs will be provided for all staff.
