Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with stroke stepdown patients and a proven background in medical and surgical nursing.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown
• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and pulmonary problems
• Patient Demographics: Adult patients
• Number of Beds: 64

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients recovering from stroke and other medical conditions.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Assist with various medical procedures and the use of specialty equipment, including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
• Support patients and their families with education and emotional support.

Qualifications

• Current RN license with active status
• AHA BLS and NIHSS certification required (NIHSS can be obtained prior to start)
• At least 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Demonstrated travel experience
• Accurate documentation of nursing skills and competencies

Shift Information

Shift available: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM. Please note that floating to other units may be required, and block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.
