Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This position is crucial in providing high-quality care to patients, ensuring safety, and promoting health as a part of our healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during your shift.
• Conduct thorough assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria.
• Utilize clinical knowledge and skills in making informed judgments regarding patient care.
• Assist in planning, directing, and educating non-RN staff, including LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing with a focus on post-operative open heart care.
• Experience in critical care settings is highly preferred.
• Proficient in chest tube and drain management.
• Experience with pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
• Strong capability in cardiac monitoring, including the reading and interpreting of cardiac rhythm strips.
• Advanced understanding of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities.
• Experience with procedures and equipment such as assisting with chest tube removal, managing temporary pacers, and troubleshooting non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices.
• Ability to float to all nursing units within skill level as needed.

Certifications

• Active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Active certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.

Licensure

• Must possess an active RN license in Ohio or a Compact RN License.

Shift Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts with a 36-hour guarantee.
• Every other weekend availability is required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
