Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Cardiac Telemetry to deliver exceptional care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to manage continuous intravenous (IV) medications, ensuring quality patient care for adults to geriatrics.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin.
  • Administer diuretics such as Bumex and Lasix as required.
  • Utilize anticoagulants including Aggrastat, Argatroban, and Heparin within nursing protocols.
  • Manage insulin drips effectively for patients with diabetes.
  • Provide care for patients with cardiac and pulmonary-related conditions, including arrhythmias, chest pain, and CHF.
  • Support treatment of renal issues and assist in surgical recovery, including post-operative care for patients who have undergone cholecystectomy, appendectomy, or related procedures.
  • Occasionally care for vascular and orthopedic patients during overflow situations.
  • Ensure adherence to basic arrhythmia management protocols.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting; first-time travelers are not accepted.
  • Current certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Proven experience in managing continuous IV medications.
  • Basic knowledge of arrhythmias and ECG interpretation is essential.

Work Environment

  • Overflow Intensive Medical Care Unit (IMCU) managing a patient ratio of 1:5-6.
  • Familiarity with unit systems such as Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR will be advantageous.
  • Standard scrub color is navy blue.

Scheduling Details

  • Night shift consisting of 3 twelve-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:00).
  • Weekend shifts are typically expected every other weekend, with permanent staff scheduled first.
  • Travelers should be prepared to work on major holidays if they fall within their assignment period.

Compliance Requirements

Full compliance with orientation and onboarding procedures is mandatory for timely placement. Orientation hours will vary based on contract length.
