Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in providing high-quality patient care and will have a proven track record of travel experience.

Job Overview

The Medical-Surgical RN will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The role involves working with adult patients, primarily in a post-surgical care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions.
• Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education regarding their diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Float to other units as needed to support patient care needs.

Patient Demographics

The patient population primarily includes adults with common diagnoses such as:

• Post-surgical care
• Abdominal pain
• Cholelithiasis
• Osteoarthritis
• Fractures
• Back pain
• Morbid obesity (bariatric surgery)

Qualifications

• Active and valid RN license in New York.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA.
• Completion of a skills checklist matching the specialty area.
• Drivers license with an address that matches application demographics.
• Current NURSYS report for license verification.

Work Environment

The shift for this position is from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed, and flexibility is required for floating to different units as needed.

Scrub Color

Registered Nurses are required to wear navy blue scrubs while on duty.
