Unit: Acute Care 2 (MedSurg)

Unit Type: Medical Surgical (Med Surg)

Shift Length: 12 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Shift Notes: 7 PM to 7 AM

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, including at least 1 travel assignment.
• Required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS (must be from AHA).
• Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred but not required.

Patient Care Information

• Bed Capacity: 44 beds with a staff of 40.
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5, possibly 1:6 during both day and night shifts.
• Nurse Aides Available: Yes, ratios are generally 1:8, possibly 1:10, with sitters provided.

Additional Considerations

• Shifts start between 6:45 AM and 7:15 AM, all shifts are 12 hours.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Availability: As needed.
• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue.
• Floating: Yes, may float to all acute care and cardiovascular units to care for medical or emergency care patient holds.

Orientation

• General Orientation: 1 week (includes EMR training).
• Floor Specific Orientation: 2 days.
