ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will work in a 6-bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) providing care for patients requiring intensive monitoring and treatment. The role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift and Scheduling

  • Shift: Nights (3×12 hour shifts)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Orientation: Two 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
  • Holiday Requirements: 1 major and 1 minor holiday based on the seasonal schedule

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
  • Nurse/Patient Ratios: Goal 1:2, may flex to 1:4 based on patient acuity
  • Common Diagnoses: CHF, Pneumonia, COPD, Sepsis, DKA, and other critical care conditions
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Preferred Certifications: TNCC, NIHSS, PALS
  • Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year in travel nursing and 3 years of CCU experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients.
  • Administer medications, including titration of IV drips such as Cardizem, insulin, and norepinephrine.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members in a supportive manner.
  • Manage telemetry monitoring for patients in the unit.
  • Occasionally perform procedures as directed by providers, including central line insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
  • Assist in maintaining unit efficiencies and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Remain flexible to float between the CCU and MedSurg/Peds units as needed.
