Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a telemetry unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting.
- Monitor patient health status, including vital signs and telemetry readings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Conduct initial patient assessments and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Educate patients and their families regarding health issues and care plans.
- Utilize electronic health record systems for documentation and patient management.
- Perform nursing interventions including IV therapy, wound care, and management of drains and catheters.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Proficient in bedside care skills including management of IVs, drains, ostomies, and wound vacs.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and titration of medications, including heparin, insulin, and other infusions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Unit and Shift Details
- Unit Type: Telemetry
- Bed Capacity: 29 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 (days), 1:6 (nights)
- Shift Length: 12 hours, from 1900 to 0730
- Weekend and Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and holiday
Additional Information
- Orientation includes 12 hours of computer training followed by 12 hours of shadowing.
- Charge nurse position involves a smaller assignment; agency staff are not required to take charge roles.
- Nurse aides are available on the unit to assist with patient care.
- No on-call responsibilities required.
- Floating to other medical-surgical units may be required if our unit is overstaffed.
