Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Tele

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in cardiac telemetry to join our team. This position requires a high level of clinical skill and the ability to manage various cardiac conditions effectively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate teamwork, a commitment to quality nursing care, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a preference for Step-Down or Telemetry.
  • First-time travelers are welcome, but stepdown experience is preferred.
  • Must possess strong skills in IV start and telemetry.
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage cardiac conditions.
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH.
  • Cardiac Tele experience is essential for this role.

Job Details

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
  • Average daily census: 23 patients
  • Available shifts: 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks or longer, with an end date through February 27.
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts per contract.
  • Float requirement: Yes, floating to other units is necessary.

Patient Population

Patients typically present with a range of cardiac diagnoses such as:

  • Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
  • Uncontrolled Diabetes
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Heart Failure
  • Post-heart catheterization
  • Post-Permanent Pacemaker (PPM)
  • Post-Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD)

Cardiac drips will be administered, but blood pressure titration is not required.

Work Environment

This unit values collaboration and teamwork, with no charge nurses on staff. Quality nursing care is essential to maintain the same patient ratios as other units. A three-day orientation will be provided, including training on EPIC and specific unit protocols.

Additional Information

Nurses are expected to adhere to a professional dress code, wearing navy or white scrubs during all shifts. EKG testing is required prior to starting this specialty role.
