Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of relevant nursing experience, demonstrating a strong ability to provide quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
• Float between medical-surgical and telemetry units as necessary.
• Monitor patient progress, documenting changes and responding to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.

Work Schedule

The position requires 12-hour shifts, with day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM and night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Every other weekend and holiday work is expected, with no requests for time off permitted during the contracted period.

Patient Ratios

• Medical-Surgical Unit Ratios: 5:1 from 7 AM to 11 PM; 6:1 from 11 PM to 7 AM.
• Telemetry Unit Ratios: 4:1 from 7 AM to 11 PM; 5:1 from 11 PM to 7 AM.

Self-Scheduling

Although self-scheduling is available, the schedule will be balanced by management to ensure appropriate staffing levels. Special requests will be accommodated whenever possible.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
